Our Simi Community Christmas event features an array of talented choirs, musicians, and dancers from the local community. Each performance adds to the festive atmosphere, bringing the joy of the season to life through music and art. We are grateful for their dedication and passion in sharing their gifts to honor the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our Adult Choirs provide a festive experience with beautiful performances that uplift and inspire. Their rich harmonies fill the space, allowing families to feel the spirit of the season as they celebrate together.

Handbell Choir

Bell Canto Ringers

The Bell Canto Ringers are a handbell choir consisting of 11 musicians from Agoura Hills, Newbury Park, Simi Valley, and Westlake under the direction of Jodi Ream. Following her eight years as a youth and handbell choir director in Santa Monica, Jodi Ream and her sister, Sally Walter, organized the Bell Canto Ringers in 2008 as a tribute to their parents for the support and encouragement of their daughters’ musical pursuits. The Bell Canto Ringers have performed throughout Ventura County.

Youth Choir

Sinaloa Middle School Choir

Sinaloa Middle School Choir is a vibrant and inclusive program that brings together 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students with a shared love for singing. Known for their engaging performances, the choir showcases their talents at annual Winter and Spring Concerts, choral festivals, and various on-campus events. With a focus on harmony, musical growth, and community, the Sinaloa Middle School Choir creates memorable experiences for both its members and audiences.

Flute Ensemble

Pipe Dream Flutes

Pipe Dream Flutes & Friends originated as Flauto Badinage in 1992, responding to the need for flute ensemble performances. The group has showcased their music at venues and festivals across the U.S. and in Vienna, Austria.

They promote original works and arrangements, featuring percussion, world flutes, voices, keyboards, and contrabass flutes. Notably, they performed at the 2013 National Flute Association convention in New Orleans, premiering commissioned works. For more information, visit PipeDreamFlutes.com.

Children's Handbell Choir

Simi Valley Adventist Bell Choir

The Simi Valley Adventist School bell choir is an audition-only group for grades 6-8, performing off-campus and at special events to build focus, discipline, poise, and confidence. The school uses a multi-grade model for K-8, promoting positive student attitudes and academic success. The choir is led by Dave Watkins, a former professional musician who has toured with Hank Ballard and the Drifters. He teaches bell choir, concert band, and singing chorus at the school, fostering a strong musical foundation for students.

Adult Choir

Simi Valley Community Choir

The Simi Valley LDS Community Choir is comprised of members from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Simi Valley area. The choir has been organized for almost 50 years and has enjoyed participating in the Simi Community Christmas event since it's beginning 16 years ago. Our choir director, Robert Erickson, is well known for his work in previous years as the choir director for the Simi Valley Youth Choir.

Song & Dance Troupe

Tamali'is Polynesian Song & Dance Troupe

Tamali’is was established in 1977 by Dorothy Ae, a resident of Simi Valley for 38 years, along with her husband Tinou and children Stuart, Fa’atamali’i, Nafanua and Vincent. She taught her children, her extended family, friends and neighborhood children the art of Polynesian dance. Today, the Polynesian culture is shared by the Tamali’is throughout Southern California. (Tamali’is means “to be humble”.)

Harpist

Elaine Litster

Elaine Litster is a Southern California harpist and the principal harpist for the Channel Island Chamber Orchestra. She organizes the Harp Extravaganza, featuring over 25 harpists performing Christmas carols at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. Elaine has released a solo album and serves as the Chairman of the American Harp Society, supporting its 3,000 members. She holds a bachelor’s degree from BYU and a master’s in Urban Planning from UCLA, and is grateful for her family’s support of her musical passion.

Local Rock Band

Looking Back Rock Band

Looking Back is in its second decade of bringing the soft rock sounds of the '50s, '60s, and '70s to Southern California. Our lively performances feature diverse styles and vocal harmonies.

The band includes Del Steele (Keyboard), Randy Moffett (Guitar, Vocals), Kent Hambly (Guitar, Banjo), Darrell Wight (Rhythm Guitar), David Sardoni (Mandolin), Steve Murphy (Drums), and Dave DeGregorio (Acoustic Guitar), each adding unique musical influences.

Chorale

Saint Rose of Lima Master Chorale

The St. Rose of Lima Master Chorale, comprised of dedicated parishioners, leads the congregation in song at the 9:00 Mass. Directed by Clare Delto and accompanied by Dr. Rachel Yoon, the chorale enriches our music ministry. Clare, a Berklee College of Music graduate with a Master’s in Conducting, has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall. The chorale thanks the Simi Community Christmas organizers for inviting us to sing again this year.

Simi Community Children's Choir

The Simi Community Children's Choir combined this year with the Simi Community Youth Choir for their performance at Simi Community Christmas. The children and youth are from ages 8 to 18. The combined choir is under the direction of Lisa Moberly, Alison Hixon and Liz Rose, combining decades of musical talent.

The Simi Valley Youth Choir has a long tradition of sharing their Christmas Spirit in the community. The choir combined with the Children's Choir this year for their performance at Simi Community Christmas. The combined choir encompasses children and youth from Simi Valley, ages 8 to 18. The combined choir is under the direction of Lisa Moberly, Alison Hixon and Liz Rose, combining decades of musical talent.

Children's Chorus

Township Elementary Chorus

The Simi Valley Music Children's Chorus is directed by Ruth Elin Drossel, who strives to bring music into the lives of our city’s elementary students. Mrs. Drossel has been directing elementary school choruses for over 20 years as well as teaching general music education in the Simi Valley and Conejo Valley school districts. She is also the Director for the Children and High School Choirs at Westwood United Methodist Church in Los Angeles.

Hillside Middle School Choir

Hillside Middle School Choir has a comprehensive, award-winning choral program. There are three choirs in this program, including the Mixed Choir, Concert Choir, and Choral Ensemble. These choirs produce their own on-campus concerts, as well as participate in choral festivals and off-campus performances. The choirs include students in grades 6th through 8th grade.

ABOUT US

Simi Community Christmas is a free, three-day interfaith event featuring nativity displays from around the world, along with Christmas concerts by local choirs, musicians, dancers, and performances by our local schools. All ages are welcome to join this special celebration of God’s greatest gift—the birth of our Savior.
